I was trying to clean up my computer and I moved the NTLDR file or deleted it. I have Knoppix cd and I can get to my harddrive, what folder is the file suppose to be in? I have a I386 folder on my desktop and I tried to move it into the windows directory but I got an error message.

I do not have the Windows XP CD anymore, so that is not an option.

Any ideas??

hi,

NTLDR is located in C:/Windows/ServicePackFiles/i386 on my machine, i assume thats the default location on other XP installations too...

For NTLDR to work, it needs 2 main files, and 3 if you're running a NT platform (which XP is).

NTLDR (see above).

Boot.ini (usually at the root of the Installation drive, in most cases C:/)..

ntdetect.com (located in C:/Windows/ServicePackFiles/i386 as well)...
