hi guys,
my first post here and i am in desparate need of help. i recently purchased a used gateway 400 sd4laptop. the first few days all was well. thrn i noticed the keyboard was not printing the correct letters. called gateway and they told me to get a new one. i retorted that it works fine in safe mode and when using linux. they said reinstall the driver. i did to no avail. the usb keyboards also do not work. i am typing this letter using the microsoft bluetooth keyboard. spent two mre days with gateway support and guess what. they told me to buy a new keyboard. it's as if they're on commission or too ignorant to see that it is not a hardware issue. PLEASE HELP or send me to a site that might be able to.
thank you,
barry j arkin

hi and welcome to geeks to go.
The problems seems to be quite serious, there are a few things that you could try.
If it's software related perhaps a system restore will do the trick.
Just in case run a few virus scanns to make sure your system is clean, or post your Hijack This log in the geekstogo malware forum.
the last resort is a fresh and clean install of windows xp (which should defininetly fix your problem)

Did you delete any software that was previously installed on the laptop?
