Dear Ken-arch, :whistling:

Welcome to the Geeks to Go forums.

We are currently studying your log.
*************************************

The following is important. I would like you to disable the "real time" protection of your "Webroot Spy Sweeper" anti-spyware software. After your computer is clean of spyware, you can re-enable the real time protection for this software. Here is how it can be done:

SpySweeper
  • Open Spysweeper and click on Options > Program Options and uncheck "load at windows startup".
  • On the left click "shields" and then uncheck everything there.
  • Uncheck "home page shield".
  • Uncheck "automatically restore default without notification".
  • Exit the program.
*********************************

You are currently running HijackThis from your desktop. Since HijackThis makes backups of any entries you fix, you should create a folder just to hold the HijackThis program and its backups, so the backups and the program are not accidentally deleted. Go to "My Computer", click on c:\ and then go to the "File" menu, choose New -> Folder. Name the folder "HJT" or "HijackThis" and then please move the "HijackThis.exe" executable there.

Please restart your computer and then post a new HijackThis log. :help:

Thanks for the reply rambro. I tried to open spysweeper but nothing happened and it would not open. I went into program files and opened the spysweeper folder and tried from there but with no luck either.

I did make a folder in the C drive for hijack this though, resarted made a new log. I am posting the new log here:

Dear Ken-arch, :whistling:

(Note: Please read through these instructions a couple of times before executing the steps in this post.)

You may want to print out these instructions or save them as a text file with "Notepad" to your desktop because we will be restarting into Safe Mode later on in the fix and you might not be able to access the Internet.
******************************

I tried to open spysweeper but nothing happened and it would not open. I went into program files and opened the spysweeper folder and tried from there but with no luck either.

Did you try opening the "Spy Sweeper" application through Start -> Programs or through a try "icon" in your system tray?

If you cannot open the "Spy Sweeper" application can you uninstall and re-install it, that is, if you want this application?

If you still cannot open the "Spy Sweeper" application can you please uninstall it from your pc? (Let me know in detail how you make out).
*********************************

1. Please download ewido anti-spyware from HERE and save that file to your desktop.
This is a 30 day trial of the program
  • Once you have downloaded ewido anti-spyware, locate the icon on the desktop and double-click it to launch the set up program.
  • Once the setup is complete you will need run ewido and update the definition files.
  • On the main screen select the icon "Update" then select the "Update now" link.
    • Next select the "Start Update" button, the update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
  • Once the update has completed select the "Scanner" icon at the top of the screen, then select the "Settings" tab.
  • Once in the Settings screen click on "Recommended actions" and then select "Quarantine".
  • Under "Reports"
    • Select "Automatically generate report after every scan"
    • Un-Select "Only if threats were found"
Close ewido anti-spyware, Do Not run a scan just yet, we will shortly.

If you are having problems with the updater, you can use this link to manually update ewido.
ewido manual updates

2. Please download Brute Force Uninstaller to your desktop.
  • Right click the BFU folder on your desktop, and choose Extract All
  • Click "Next"
  • In the box to choose where to extract the files to,
  • Click "Browse"
  • Click on the + sign next to "My Computer"
  • Click on "Local Disk (C:) or whatever your primary drive is
  • Click "Make New Folder"
  • Type in BFU
  • Click "Next", and Uncheck the "Show Extracted Files" box and then click "Finish".
3. RIGHT-CLICK HERE and choose "Save As" (in IE it's "Save Target As") in order to download Alcra PLUS Remover.
Save it in the same folder you made earlier (c:\BFU).

Do not do anything with these yet!

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode. You can do this by restarting your computer and continually tapping F8 until a menu appears. Highlight Safe Mode and hit enter.

4. IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while ewido is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning proccess:
  • Lauch ewido-anti-spyware by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
  • Select the "Scanner" icon at the top and then the "Scan" tab then click on "Complete System Scan".
  • ewido will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time.
Once the scan is complete do the following:
  • If you have any infections you will prompted, then select "Apply all actions"
  • Next select the "Reports" icon at the top.
  • Select the "Save report as" button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system (make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important).
  • Close ewido anti-malware.
5. Then, please go to Start > My Computer and navigate to the C:\BFU folder.
  • Start the Brute Force Uninstaller by doubleclicking BFU.exe
  • Behind the scriptline to execute field click the folder icon Posted Image and select alcanshorty.bfu
  • Press Execute and let the program do it’s job. (You ought to see a progress bar if you did this correctly.)
  • Wait for the complete script execution box to pop up and press OK.
  • Press exit to terminate the BFU program.
Reboot into normal windows and post the contents of Ewido text report that you saved and a new HiJackThis log.

In addition, let me know in detail how your computer system is running after performing the above steps.

Thanks again for the help. The computer seems to be running better. Attached are copies of the ewido report and the current hijackthis log.

The spyware I was getting the most of was ad.firstsolution. Also when I pull up my task manager there are two files called "project 1" & "project 2" I have no idea what they are doing. neither of these have happened since your last instructions (Brut force Uninstaller)

For some reason the Hijackthis log was not attached. Here it is. And I'm still getting the ad.first pop ups.

Dear Ken-arch, :whistling:

Can you tell me in detail, who is your Internet Service Provider?

Can you tell me in detail, how you are connecting to the Internet (for example, dialup, DSL and/or Cable modem)?

Dear Ken-arch, do me a favor an don't send me the logs I ask for through a file attachment. Just copy the the logs from "Notepad" and paste them in your reply post to me.

Dear Ken-arch, when you ran the ewido scan that I asked for in my last post, why didn't you fix the things that the ewido scan found?
You ran the ewido scan correctly in your very first post. That is, you did this or were supposed to do this:

[*]Once the update has completed select the "Scanner" icon at the top of the screen, then select the "Settings" tab.
[*]Once in the Settings screen click on "Recommended actions" and then select "Quarantine".

and you did this or were supposed to do this:

Once the scan is complete do the following:
[*]If you have any infections you will prompted, then select "Apply all actions"

Don't be in such a hurry to complete my posts, without reading through them a couple of times. Thank you for your cooperation.

Dear Ken-arch, :whistling:

(Note: Please read through these instructions a couple of times before executing the steps in this post.)

You may want to print out these instructions or save them as a text file with "Notepad" to your desktop.
******************************

Please download WinHelp2002's DelDomains by right-clicking on the following link, and choosing "Save Target As": http://www.mvps.org/.../DelDomains.inf. Save the file to the desktop. Then go to the desktop, right click on DelDomains.inf, and choose Install. You may not see any noticeable changes or prompts; this is normal. Certain programs will have to be reimmunized for example, SpywareBlaster, IE-SPYAD, and/or Spybot Search and Destroy, after doing the above procedure (i.e. that is, if you have these programs installed on your computer).

Please restart your computer.

Run HijackThis and click "Scan." Place checks next to the following entry/entries (if they exist):
