Hello I am having a problem connecting to the internet. every time I connect a window comes up saying that the computer will shut down and restart in one minute. This message appears either when I first log on to the internet or around twenty minutes after I have logged on. I have no idea why it is doing this, it just came out of the blue a couple of days ago. I had a feeling it might be a virus but I did a scan which came up with no results. Also it says that the shutdown has been authorised by the NT authority, what does this mean? and how do I prevent it from happening? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hey stuartie_b,

Let us take a closer look at what is running on your PC. We'll need you to use a free diagnostic tool (HiJackThis) and post a log back here with the results.

Click the HijackThis Guide in my signature, download it and follow the instructions in the guide.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, DO NOT delete or modify anything yet! Someone will be along to tell you what steps to take after you post the contents of the scan results.

Hello again,

Please download this to fix the Start.chm Hijack:

Run it and extract the folder to the desktop preferably.Open the folder after extracted. Double click the fix.bat

Please make sure all Internet Explorer windows are closed.
Only run it once or you will lose the backups although they shouldn't be needed.
Notepad will open at the end with a message and the bad file listing at the end.

Reboot Windows and delete that bad file.

Reboot once again and post a new log.
