alright, so here's the problem. I have these movies on my computer that are around 698MB each. I have two of them, and every time I try and open up the folder with them in it, or try and open them with ANY kind of media player my desktop crashes. It lets me play other movie files fine, but those are at MAX 70MB, and the folders I have them in have multiple files, and I have no problems with any of those. It is just these two movies that I need off my HD before I format. how do I get my computer to actually see these files and not crash every time my compter tries to read them.

nope. If ANYTHING tries to acces them, my desktop crashes and the program that was trying to use it closes. Media Player, Divx, Quicktime. nothing works. I cant copy them, because if I open I folder with them in it, there goes my desktop. My guess is that they are corrupt but if you can think of anything, post away.

Click start then run, type prefetch then press enter, click edit then select all, right click any file then click delete, confirm delete

Click start, all programmes, accessories, system tools to run disc clean up, then from system tools, run disc defragmenter.

Click start then run, type sfc /scannow then press enter, you need the XP CD and Windows File Protection will show a blue onscreen progress bar, when the bar goes, reboot

Run Tune Up Disc Clean Up

Run Tune Up Registry Clean Up

Click Optimize and Improve to run Reg Defrag, which will take a few minutes and need a reboot. You should disable the antivirus programme to run this

Check the anti virus is running after the reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to optimize the computer, select computer with an internet connection from the drop down menu, this also requires a reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to accelerate downloads, select the speed just above your actual connection speed, this requires a reboot

After the reboot, click optimize then system optimizer to run system advisor
