Hey,

I have a music video (downloaded legally) that I want to take the audio off to be able to put it onto a music cd. Is there anyway to do this, like through Movie maker, I thought there was but I can't find the option maybe it was on iMovie.

This is for windows only (in case you use mac):
If your music video is an *.avi and the audio stream is an mp3, download Virtual Dub MOD (google it) and open the file with it. Under the streams tab click stream list, then click DEMUX and save the file.
Easy as that.

If its for a different video format, then it can't be done, yet.

What format is the video? I use IMToo MP4VideoConverter to take movies and convert to mp3 or mp4. It is a paid program, but it works really well for this type of thing. I worked with several programs and this one was the most user friendly.

In an extreme case I'd suggest:

1. A Sound cable with two Stereo Jacks.
2. Hook up one jack to Output, one to Line In.
3. Start the video, start Recording in Sound Recorder.
4. Voila'.

It's not as easy as it looks, you have to muck around with recording volumes and that. Depending on your sound card, it can be impossible i think (you might need a Full-Duplex Card, not sure).

Very rudimentary, but if done properly you can't go wrong.

I am using Windows and the video is in Windows Media Player format.
