No. Just fix the item with HijackThis
(Select that line and click Fix checked)

That way we can reconstruct anything that might be listed there, but the reminder will be gone.

I noticed something called msiexec.exe was running and taking up a lot of resources.

Thank you.

What were you installing?
Because that is what that process is for.

Hmmm, there are two instances of it running, but I also see the Windows Updater active so it might be related to that.

Try something for me please.
Uninstall Trend Micro OfficeScan and install a virusscanner that is more suitable for a home computer.
Free scanners are listed here:

Let me know. I'm asking because you are not the first this week that has this problem.

Ok, I'm wokring on it. By that I mean...

I went to add/remove prgrams to get rid of Trend, but it needs a password to uninstall.
So I called my school's IT to get the password. They said to run removeSAV.exe. I did that, but it didn't do anything. I called back and they referred me to resnet. I called them and no one there answered, so I left a message.

I'll do those steps as soon as I can figure out how to get rid of this awful program.

Thanks.

Ok, it's been a while and I thought this forum had been closed. Here's what's up:

I got the password to uninstall CSA and Micro Trend and uninstalled them
No improvement, so I posted in here again.
Another guy suggested that it is a maintenence issue and said I should run defrag and disk check on my drives.
I did that on all of them and found no improvement.

Any other ideas? Have you found out anything about CSA or Micro Trend (since they're terrible programs)?

Thanks.

Well, I took it to IT again and they said I should just reformat. Then just before settling on that, he noticed that my primary IDE cable was going to my DVD ROM and my secondary IDE cable was connected to the hard drives, for some reason. Anyway, we switched that up and it seems to be running much better. Thanks for the help, it was a weird solution, but I, and maybe you, learned something from it; who knows. Anyway, thanks.
