Windows Media Player won't work using Firefox

Media player will not play any videos using firefox. I've researched and found out i need to download a plug in so it will work. My problem is i do not unterstand what to do. If someone knows what i'm talking about and could walk me step by step through this I'd really appreciate it. This is driving me crazy!
