My dvd drive can't not detect any cd or cd-roms only dvds

Hi thanks for your time i have problems with dvd drive a week ago i was playing a dics and Windows player and freeze and I close the Program, and from that disc my dvd drive can't not read, Write or detetc any cd i make copys of my movies and it works great.. the Problem is only the Cds music or games on cds because i have the Game battle for Middle Earth on dvd and it works and the starcraft on cd does not Play..
I try to Reinstall the drives and no luck then the Sistem restore to a week before the problem and no Luck

Hi. Have you tried updating the drivers for the drive model by going to the drive manufacturer's website?

hhhhmm... Have you made any changes to the system recently? Also, while it's a "rare case scenario", there might be a little worm on your computer... Do you have protection? Would you mind considering posting your HijackThis logfile in our malware section for analyzation?

I am having the same problem! DVD's work fine, but cd's just wont run. If I get lucky sometimes a cd will work but its like only 5% of the time a cd will work. PLZ HELP!

have you check the conections they some times get loose
it sound like a bad conection

Ok wolfvering go start,PC help and tools, Pc doctor,click storage, Then run a test on
DVD-ROM DRIVE and DVD-RW DRIVE
follow the instructions

yes i try that.. but when I insert the cd of music or data it can't not detec the disc. and keep asking to insert the disc only the dvds are working :whistling:

Ok when you try it what the test show?
that every thing is working!
A ? did you istall this dvd player
or it came with the computer?
do you have a CDR that came with it?

Other wise we may have to download the drivers from the internet
Please let me Know what kind of CP,DVD prayer,you have, so I can help you to get the
right drivres

Yes the test show that Everthing is Working and yes i install the dvd drive and the Pc came with the dvd drive but it stop Working i was used it A lot and I buy this new Dvd drive and it was Working great inti'l
that music Cd that I mention above..
and my Pc is a Hp Media Center M376n Intel Pent. 4 2.6ghz and the drive is Hp dvdwriter 740b
