Recently I had to go to a restore point from a week prior to current date. When this happened my start up froze on the welcome screen and would go no further. After many attempts to start the computer again it would not log on. I installed windows again without deleting the information and now I need to know if it is possible to copy the registry to the new windows from the old windows so it recognizes my programs so i don't have to install them all over again. Any help would be appreciated... I need a fix asap because it is my computer for work... Also I tried to just write over the old windows and it would not take because there was said to be an administrator password but I setup the computer and never set one so I am not sure what it is asking for. Thanks in advance

If the Adminstrator Password has not been changed it should just be blank.

i tried that and attempted to use common passwords thinking maybe compaq had one set on it such as admin... just leaving it blank... and one other but after your third attempt you have to restart the process of the repair. gets frustrating... any other advice?
