compaq reminder

I have a compaq presario computer w/ windows xp operating system. There is this compaq reminder that pops up on my desktop whenever i turn it on. the reminder is telling me to make recovery disc for my operating system..... i have done that and the reminder is still there. i can't minimize, close, hide etc. the thing. please help!!!!!!! Annoyed
