I am using a peer to peer network with Windows XP home on all computers. I am able to ping the router (192.168.0.1) and myself (127.0.0.1) and the brother printer (192.168.0.104). I am not able to ping the other computers in the network (192.168.0.102 and 103). Any clues as to why?

Two of the three computers will print to the networked brother printer. One will not. It sees the router and can get on the internet, but cannot see the printer. Any help on clues as to why would be appreciated.

do any of them have the windows firewall on? the windows xp firewall by default blocks all ICMP requests (i.e. ping) you could try turning off the windows firewall to do these tests (and honestly...leave the thing off and get a better one)

Thanks for the tip. I tried turning off the firewalls and it made no difference. Any other ideas?
