error installing fear

im trying to install the new fear patch and this error keeps popping up:
Error Code: -5006 : 0x8000ffff
Error Information:

yes i have a legit copy and im getting the patch from sierra...i can play fear but once i dl the patch it doesnt let me open up the game

You should reinstall then try the patch is it afull v1to current or an incremental patch. If its not working after a reinstall and you have checked its the correct patch then reinstall and just patch it to the last one that worked.
