Have run spyware/virus programs, registry cleaner and still having problems. Can't shut down properly because of mouse issue. Relatively new Compaq desktop with XP pre-installed.

Any layman suggestions are welcome.

Hi Josterhaus, welcome to GeeksToGo!

Have you checked your mouse settings to see if the mouse buttons mught be switched around?

Start>settings>control panel>mouse>is the checkbox ''switch around primary and secondary button'' checked?

If it is, uncheck it.
