Hello Naveb and welome to the G2G HijakThis forums. I see no signs of viruses or malware in the log. It is clean.

3 to 4 minutes is about average for XP to load (it really depends on all of the programs and services that are being loaded on any particular machine). Mine takes about 5 minutes. There is alot going on in the background. Your anti-virus and anti-spyware programs will launch and then attempt to contact their respective update sites to see if any updates are available. And if NetLimiter is throttling those applications then it will simply take longer for them to check and perform any updates. I also see various programs and services which will load for your printer and attempt to connect to it. Also, the Microsoft Office pre-loader will load a number of components for Microsoft applications. It is not necessary for running any Office applications and does take up alot of resources. This can be removed.

To remove the Microsoft Office pre-loader do the following (this is optional):

Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:
O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE
Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the removal and then reboot the machine.

It is also good to regularly clean out the temporary files folders (Ido this about once a week). To do this follow the steps below:

Download and install ATF Cleaner by Atribune.
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
  • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
  • Under Main choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browser
  • Click Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
  • NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browser
  • Click Opera at the top and choose: Select All
  • Click the Empty Selected button.
  • NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located at the bottom of each menu.

Other than that you are good to go.

Cheers.

oh ok. thankyou oldtimer.

i thought it was spyware/malware because they longer load up time happened overnight. it took a substantially long time compared to before.

all the antivirus programs, netlimiter and the like were always on my computer. as long as my computer is clean, thats the main issue, i am happy.

thankyou.

You are welcome Naveb, I'm glad we could look. Since this issue does not appear to be malware related I will close this topic. If you have any new malware questions in the future please start a new topic.

Cheers.
