how do I correct a partition error

I have a compaq presario 5441. I use windows 98. I can get the factory restore discs to read but a the partition error # 1822 pops up and the restore discs continue but nothing is loaded.How do I repartition my pc.

You could download a bootable 98SE floppy from http://www.bootdisk.com and reboot your computer using this floppy. Use fdisk to remove, and then re-create the primary partition.
