I run windows XP (all recent service packs up to date) on a dell dimension 3000 -- only a couple of years old.

All of a sudden my computer is running extremely slow. Internet pages take forever to load up, applications take forever to start up and shut down. When they shut down I get a white screen and it takes a few seconds to get back to the desktop background.

I've run a disk cleanup utility (mcafee quickclean) and it freed up alot of temp files and remnants (about 50MB). I've run spybot. Main thing it detected was cool www search and I removed it. I run it almost weekly.

Only recent thing I did was to renew and update my mcafee security centre which does my firewall and virusscan stuff. I've used it since I bought my computer so I don't see why this should be an issue.

I will post my hijack log below....

Hi diamond girl...

There are still some suspicious items shown in the log... :whistling:

Please go to the Malware Forum and follow the instructions found there.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself...then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum. Be patient, the Malware Forum is a very busy place and a two or three day wait is not unusual. DO NOT REPLY TO OR BUMP YOUR OWN LOG. If it shows a reply it may be overlooked as one that is being worked on.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.
