Freeze/hang problem..

After about 15 minutes of my computer running, when I go to Start and click "Turn off computer", the cursor changes to the hourglass and freezes for about 10 minutes before the box comes up to shut down, etc. Anybody know why this could be happening? I did a google search and other people were experiencing the same problem but there were no solutions. Thanks!
