I know I can plug a ATX12V v1.3 PSU to a motherboard which has 12X2 socket, by not plugging in numbers 11, 12, 23, and 24. Can I do it the other way around and use a v2.2 24 pin PSU on a motherboard that has 10x2 socket?

As far as I know you can, providing you use an adapter - in this case, a 24pin to 20pin adapter
