Windows XP home crash with stop:0X0000008E

Hello,

I am using windows XP home in the laptop. I changed the harddrive long time before. After 1 yr of its use, I am getting below error and windows crashes.

Stop: 0x0000008E(0xC0000005,0x804F0379, 0xEB9FC27C,0x00000000)

It says, contact ur hardware people to update BIOS


Please resolve this problem.

The 8E error code is a kernel mode exception not handled. Heres a MSDN article on it.

If there is no new hardware added it is usually a faulty device driver or system service might be responsible for this error. Hardware issues, such as BIOS incompatibilities, memory conflicts, and IRQ conflicts can also generate this error.

Check the System Log in Event Viewer for additional error messages that might help pinpoint the device or driver that is causing the problem.
