ok, heres the scenario

1. Switch on pc (xp)
2. Mouse not detected
3. switch off then back on again
4. everything ok


has me baffled cos im not very good when it comes to repairing pcs, i have tried changing the mouse but i always have to reboot straight after the first boot up in order to get my mouse working, can someone please help because this small prob is very annoying

It could be your motherboard going bad but is its the same sequence over and over again (on1-mouse not working, no2-mouse working, on3-mouse not working, etc.) then maybe its your BIOS

another thing could be your mous is going bad, try using a USB mous see if that works (assuming your using a PS2, if not then try with a PS2 mouse.)
