WARNING: not all files found by this scanner are bad. Consult with a knowledgable person before proceeding.

If you see a message in the titlebar saying "Not responding..." you can ignore it. Windows sometimes displays this message due to the high volume of disk I/O. As long as the hard disk light is flashing, the program is still working properly.

Looks like vundo is hanging tough on us as well as SpyQuake2 as well as some other garbage

Lets see if we can shake this up a bit,

Check Ewido for updates,
don't run it yet just update and close out the programs,

Next reboot to safe mode and go to add/remove and remove the following

SpyQuake2.com 2.3
ToolBar888

and do you know what this program is ?
Safety Bar

Next run a full system scan with Ewido whils still in safe mode, after you have chosen Quaratine as the action save the log to your desktop,

Reboot to normal mode run vundofix again,

I need to see the ewido scan, vundofix log and a fresh HJT log please

OK here is the Ewido log, vundofix log (required two reboots, but apparently got it), and then the HJT:

Don - the O21 - incestuously
and O4 - 8494eaeb.exe
are both bad, right?

Yep,

That shook a few things

Please restart HJT put a check next to the following, close all open windows and click “Fix Checked”
O3 - Toolbar: ToolBar888 - {CBCC61FA-0221-4ccc-B409-CEE865CACA3A} - C:\Program Files\ToolBar888\MyToolBar.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [8494eaeb.exe] C:\Documents and Settings\amcallis\Local Settings\Application Data\8494eaeb.exe
O21 - SSODL: incestuously - {03413bf7-e34c-445b-bfc0-a2b127255871} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\urroxtl.dll (file missing)

Close out HJT

Next
*Please open notepad and save these instructions, Name it something you will remember
*Click Here to download Killbox by Option^Explicit.
*Extract the program to your desktop and double-click on its folder, then double-click on Killbox.exe to start the program.
*In the killbox program, select the Delete on Reboot option.
*Open the text file with these instructions in it, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

C:\Documents and Settings\amcallis\Local Settings\Application Data\8494eaeb.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmnnm.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\winbfi32.dll

*Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".
*Click on “All Files”
*Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

Your computer should restart automatically if not restart manually

Rescan with winpfind post back the log from it along with a fresh HJT log please

OK, WinPFind appears to hang and not continue after popping up a msg:
"Cannot open file C:\Documents and Settings\amcallis\ApplicactionData\$_hpcst$.hpc."
There's an ok button. I click it, but there is no more scanning. Here is the log for as far as winPFind got:

WARNING: not all files found by this scanner are bad. Consult with a knowledgable person before proceeding.

If you see a message in the titlebar saying "Not responding..." you can ignore it. Windows sometimes displays this message due to the high volume of disk I/O. As long as the hard disk light is flashing, the program is still working properly.

Still getting an antivirus popup advertisement from IE :/ I'm running ewido and activescan for the fun of it!

I'll run ATF in safe mode, then the other usual suspects (spybot, adaware)

OK lets see if we can kill this one it seems to be hanging tough

Open Killbox click on the "delete on reboot"
copy and paste the following into the window
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\winbfi32.dll

Click on the circle with the red x in it, when it asks you to restart please do so

We need to get a firewall and AV running for you here and a good antivirus (these are also free for personal use):It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated.

install the AV and firewall and then post back a fresh HJT log please

sorry forgot to add were you running winpfind in safe mode ?

Hi - the WinPFind probably didnt run because i wasn't in safe mode. I can rerun if you want. I ran the last killbox instruction, and installed firewall/virus scanner. Still getting IE popups, looks like. Here is the HJT:

Yes please run winpfind in safe mode please

also lets get java updated

Updating Java and Clearing Cache
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on the Java Icon (coffee cup) in the Control Panel.
  • It will say "Java Plug-in" under the icon.
Please find the update button or tab in the Java Control Panel. Update your Java then reboot.
  • If you are unable to update you can manually update by going here:
  • After the reboot, go back into the Control Panel and double-click the Java Icon.
  • Under Temporary Internet Files, click the Delete Files button.
  • There are three options in the window to clear the cache - Leave ALL 3 CheckedDownloaded Applets
    Downloaded Applications
    Other Files
  • Click OK on Delete Temporary Files Window
Note: This deletes ALL the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the CACHE.
  • Click OK to leave the Java Control Panel.

I would like to see an active scan as well it might be helpful

Don77, I had the most recent java 1.5_06. I did delete the cached java items. Then, I ran winPFind in safe mode, and then activescan. See logs below.

<<<<<<<<<<<<< WinPFind >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
WARNING: not all files found by this scanner are bad. Consult with a knowledgable person before proceeding.

If you see a message in the titlebar saying "Not responding..." you can ignore it. Windows sometimes displays this message due to the high volume of disk I/O. As long as the hard disk light is flashing, the program is still working properly.

I know you have killbox, just skip the section of downloading it

*Please open notepad and save these instructions, Name it something you will remember
*Click Here to download Killbox by Option^Explicit.
*Extract the program to your desktop and double-click on its folder, then double-click on Killbox.exe to start the program.
*In the killbox program, select the Delete on Reboot option.
*Open the text file with these instructions in it, and copy the file names below to the clipboard by highlighting them and pressing Control-C:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\mnnmp.bak1
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mnnmp.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\oqstv.bak1
C:\WINDOWS\system32\oqstv.bak2
C:\WINDOWS\system32\oqstv.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ixt0.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\tuvvvus.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\winbfi32.dll

*Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose "Paste from Clipboard".
*Click on “All Files”
*Click the red-and-white "Delete File" button. Click "Yes" at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click "No" at the Pending Operations prompt.

I did the killbox deletes on reboot, then let it reboot fully. Then reset to safe mode. Ran WinPFind (log attached). Then I rebooted to normal windows, and ran HJT.

OK lets give vundofix one more run please,

Also,
I would like to see if this will shake something up for us

Please download Look2Me-Destroyer.exe to your desktop.
  • Close all windows before continuing.
  • Double-click Look2Me-Destroyer.exe to run it.
  • Put a check next to Run this program as a task.
  • You will receive a message saying Look2Me-Destroyer will close and re-open in approximately 10 seconds. Click OK
  • When Look2Me-Destroyer re-opens, click the Scan for L2M button, your desktop icons will disappear, this is normal.
  • Once it's done scanning, click the Remove L2M button.
  • You will receive a Done Scanning message, click OK.
  • When completed, you will receive this message: Done removing infected files! Look2Me-Destroyer will now shutdown your computer, click OK.
  • Your computer will then shutdown.
  • Turn your computer back on.
  • Please post the contents of C:\Look2Me-Destroyer.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
If Look2Me-Destroyer does not reopen automatically, reboot and try again.

If you receive a message from your firewall about this program accessing the internet please allow it.

If you receive a runtime error '339' please download MSWINSCK.OCX from the link below and place it in your C:\Windows\System32 Directory.

OK - Ran Vundofix - nothing found. Ran L2M, and it closed, then reopoened as you described. Then it shutdown the computer. I powered back on - and the network connection isn't working now. I'm posting from my (malware free) mac. Looks like the interface is still there and "enabled" but no DHCP. Any idea how to get that back?

L2M didn't put any logfile in the C drive that I saw. I never got a note from the firewall, nor did i get the Runtime 339 that you mentioned.

Oh! Network is back on the PC. Acquired address via DHCP. Still no L2M logfile. I'll try to run L2M again.
