hey ,

i last updated my display drivers, because i couldn't play a game and got a message saying;

graphic services failed to initialize. please make sure that your video card and drivers are correctly installed and are compatible with rise of nations.

so i updated my catalyst drivers, from 6.4.. to 6.6... i believe, which didn't work, so i rolled back the update and thought that i may have had something to do with direct x.

i updated it to the newest '06 direct x, didn't matter. my pc crashed , so i tried going back to the previous direct x, but it won't work. now my pc won't boot up normally, the part where you get the blue square thing that goes from left to right, there is where it jams and restarts. the only way that my pc works now is in safe mode. all the other options don't work.
the problem with direct x that i have is that when i say update it doesn't do a thing, it initializes, then finds out that i have a higher version installed, and stops.

please help me.

my system
xp, sp2
amd xp 2800+
ati radeon 9600 pro
iiyama ls704ut monitor
asus a7v8x-x motherboard

You can get 6.8 here

http://www.filehippo...d_ati_catalyst/

Download and save them

From the ATI site look for Radeon 5.7 drivers, just a bove the downloads for this is a download for cat uninstaller, run that, reboot, install the 6.8 drivers
