speedtouch modem connection problem

ever since i upgraded my pipex account to 8mg, the shortcut on the desktop displays 'SpeedTouch Dialer has encountered a problem and needs to close' message whenever i try and connect to internet. i have tried reinstalling software but no good.
i can however still connect through the 'connect to' button on the start menu
i am using a speedtouch 330 modem and have had no problems before with this
i have also tried downloading new drivers from speedtouch website

please help
