hi there,
i am new to all this reg edit stuff, but i understand i need to remove some stuff to stop this 888.com winfix something or other popups and download box's.
i have ran several different spyware removers e.g. spybot, windows deffender etc and i cant get rid of them.
I have looked around the net and found that i need to use "hijackthis" and post a log for someone much clever'er than me and ask very very nicely is you can help!

Please disable the Real-Time Protection in Window Defender, you can enable Real-Time Protection for Windows Defender when we are finished cleaning your computer system of spyware.

To disable the Real-Time Protection system, Open Windows Defender, on the Tools menu, click General Settings. Scroll down to Real-Time Protection options section and deactivate the Real-Time Protection system.

I notice that you have Spybot's TeaTimer running. While this is normally a wonderful tool to protect against hijackers, it can also interfere with HijackThis fixes. So please disable TeaTimer by doing the following:

1) Run Spybot-S&D
2) Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
3) On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
4) Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts
5) Restart your computer.

You can re-enable TeaTimer once your system is clean.

Optional Fixes

I highly recommend you to fix this item:

The following line represents a restriction placed on your Internet Explorer browser. If you or your system administrator has not put this restriction on your Intenet Explorer browser and/or this restriction was not set by a program like Spybot S+D or some other security program, then fix the following line.

Close all browser and other windows except for HijackThis, and click "Fix Checked" button to finish the repair. Close the HijackThis application.

Next, make sure your PC is configured to show hidden files. Here is how to do this:

* Select the "Tools" menu and click "Folder Options".
* Select the "View" Tab.
* Under the "Hidden files and folders" heading select "Show hidden files and folders".
* Make sure "Hide extensions for known file types" is unchecked

* Click "OK".

Delete the following folder/folders marked in blue (if they exist):

Finally, clean out temporary and Temporary Internet files. Go to Start -> Run and type in the box: cleanmgr. Let it scan your system for files to remove. Make sure these 3 are checked and then press *ok* to remove:

Temporary Files
Temporary Internet Files
Recycle Bin

Restart your computer.

  • If anything was found you may be prompted to run the scan again, you can just close the browser window.
When the scan is finished, please restart your computer.
