sorry its taken so long whitecloud. Had client realize that her office pc's had lots of viri on them and spent the last 16 hours cleaning them up.

First, download, install, and run Cleanup!

now, here are some things you can remove from hijackthis:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\jdgsf.dll/sp.html#22776
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\jdgsf.dll/sp.html#22776
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Page_URL = about:blank
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\jdgsf.dll/sp.html#22776
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\jdgsf.dll/sp.html#22776
R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Page = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\jdgsf.dll/sp.html#22776
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\jdgsf.dll/sp.html#22776
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = res://C:\WINDOWS\system32\jdgsf.dll/sp.html#22776
R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {18E79D78-37FF-46FB-174F-D52C8A9B4AA4} - C:\WINDOWS\addof.dll
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ares] "C:\Program Files\Ares\Ares.exe" -h
04 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler V3.exe

ok that last one is definatel adware: here is the removal instructions for powerreg:
Follow these steps to remove PowerReg Scheduler from your machine. Begin by backing up your registry and your system, and/or setting a Restore Point, to prevent trouble if you make a mistake.
Stop Running Processes:

desktopdir+\startup\powerreg scheduler v3.exe
profilepath+\start menu\programs\startup\powerreg scheduler.exe
profilepath+\start menu\programs\startup\powerreg schedulerv2.exe
startupfolder+\powerreg scheduler v3.exe
startupfolder+\powerreg scheduler.exe
systemroot+\desktop\startup\powerreg scheduler.exe
systemroot+\start menu\programs\startup\powerreg scheduler.exe

Remove Files:
desktopdir+\startup\powerreg scheduler v3.exe
desktopdir+\startup\webshots.lnk
profilepath+\start menu\programs\startup\powerreg scheduler.exe
profilepath+\start menu\programs\startup\powerreg schedulerv2.exe
programfilesdir+\powerreg
startupfolder+\powerreg scheduler v3.exe
startupfolder+\powerreg scheduler.exe
systemroot+\desktop\startup\powerreg scheduler.exe
systemroot+\start menu\programs\startup\powerreg scheduler.exe

Remove Directories:
desktopdir+\startup

additional info can be foundhere

once complete please post a new log file and let us know of any changes on your system.

now you will need to download and install microsoft antispy
run the quick scan. at the end it should prompt you to configure your internet browswer settings. You can also do this by clicking on advanced and choosing broswer restore. this will reset all of your browser settings back to microsoft defaults. It also includes active protection and will alert you to any suspicious activity.

thanks,
Starjax.

Just a little cleanup left.

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = http://red.clientapp...//www.yahoo.com
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page =

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. After that reboot.

I notice from your log that you have 2 antivirus programs running (AVG, Norton). Multiple antivirus programs do NOT play well together on a computer and can often cause big problems with your computer. I would highly recommend removing one of the antivirus programs.

The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people. This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again.
  • Spybot Search & Destroy - Uber powerful tool which can search and annhilate nasties that make it onto your system. Now with an Immunize section that will help prevent future infections.
  • AdAware - Another very powerful tool which searches and kills nasties that infect your system. AdAware and Spybot Search & Destroy compliment each other very well.
  • SpywareBlaster - Great prevention tool to keep nasties from installing on your system.
  • SpywareGuard - Works as a Spyware "Shield" to protect your computer from getting malware in the first place.
  • IE-SpyAd - puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.
  • CleanUP! - Cleans temporary files from IE and Windows, empties the recycle bin and more. Great tool to help speed up your computer and knock out those nasties that like to reside in the temp folders.
  • Windows Updates - It is very important to make sure that both Internet Explorer and Windows are kept current with the latest critical security patches from Microsoft. To do this just start Internet Explorer and select Tools > Windows Update, and follow the online instructions from there.
  • Google Toolbar - Free google toolbar that allows you to use the powerful Google search engine from the bar, but also blocks pop up windows.
  • Trillian or Miranda-IM - These are Malware free Instant Messenger programs which allow you to connect to multiple IM services in one program! (AOL, Yahoo, ICQ, IRC, MSN)
To find out more information about how you got infected in the first place and some great guidelines to follow to prevent future infections you can read this article by Tony Klein

If you need anything else, feel free to ask here ;)
