Hello all,
I have discovered this PC is behaving erratically. I have been getting some ms-dos looking screens with a dialog box saying"C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\WIN34t~1.EXE. The NTVDM.CPU has encountered an illegal instruction. CS:10ea IP:0158 OP:63 65 73 73 65 Choose 'Close' to terminate the application. "Close" or"Ignore" are the two options for the dialg box. When I choose "Close" The dialog box disappears, as does the ms-dos screen.
I have Nod 32 Which is continuously updated & I have tried scanning in "Safe Mode" without any real success. jkhhh.dll remains in C:WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 directory.
I have noticed my keyboard will not function in "Safe Mode". I have created another User account with admistrative rites & no password to get into "Safe Mode".

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

:whistling: Hi

* Click here to download HJTsetup.exe
  • Save HJTsetup.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTsetup.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Hijack This.
  • Continue to click Next in the setup dialogue boxes until you get to the Select Addition Tasks dialogue.
  • Put a check by Create a desktop icon then click Next again.
  • Continue to follow the rest of the prompts from there.
  • At the final dialogue box click Finish and it will launch Hijack This.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

Did vundofix run on reboot?

Right click hijackthis.exe and rename it ot HJT.exe, rescan and post a new log please

No thats just an active x used for your banking website, any one who banks with them online will have that entry. No personal information can be gained from that entry or any other entry in a hijack log.

Hi :whistling:

Ok lets go a different route

1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 to your Desktop.
  • Click on Avenger.zip to open the file
  • Extract avenger.exe to your desktop
2. Copy all the text contained in the code box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):

Files to delete:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtspno.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkhhh.dll

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.
  • Under "Script file to execute" choose "Input Script Manually".
  • Now click on the Magnifying Glass icon which will open a new window titled "View/edit script"
  • Paste the text copied to clipboard into this window by pressing (Ctrl+V).
  • Click Done
  • Now click on the Green Light to begin execution of the script
  • Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.
4. The Avenger will automatically do the following:
  • It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Unload", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
  • On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
  • After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
  • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
5. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply along with a fresh HJT log by using Add/Reply

Your log looks good. Can you do one final step for me to make sure all is gone

Please go HERE to run Panda's ActiveScan
  • Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
  • A new window will open...click the Check Now button
  • Enter your Country
  • Enter your State/Province
  • Enter your e-mail address and click send
  • Select either Home User or Company
  • Click the big Scan Now button
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
  • When download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan
  • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location. Post the contents of the ActiveScan report along with a new hijackthis log.
Thanks :whistling:

Hi Loophole,
Thanks for the follow-up email. I have attempted the Panda Active Scan, however it only gets so far & it appears to continue with it's active scan without any further progress to another stage. ActiveX appears to download OK. The Active Scan page continues with the blinking dots, but thats all.
Can you suggest my next course of action.

Regards,

Ok , Panda scan can be troublesome at times. Would you mind trying the one below. I dont think there will be alot found but I would rather make sure.

By the way I see you use NOD 32, good choice :whistling:

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
  • The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
  • Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  • Now click on Scan Settings
  • In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
    • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
    Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
    • Scan Options:
    Scan Archives
    Scan Mail Bases
  • Click OK
  • Now under select a target to scan:Select My Computer
  • This will program will start and scan your system.
  • The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
  • Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
    • Now click on the Save as Text button:
  • Save the file to your desktop.
  • Copy and paste that information in your next post.
