I have xp sp2 and I have ran adaware, spybot, and the cws shredder. Pretty much when I start AOL instant messenger it either doesn't open or has to shut down. Internet explorer locks up when I open it. Sometimes I cant open mycomputer or the control panel, and my defragmenter says my memory is full so it can run when i know it isnt. I also cannot open disk cleanup. I am also having trouble deleting temporary internet files even after I deleted them all through the command line. Anyways, when I terminate the dwwin.exe process some thigs start to work but usually ie and aim wont be helped by this. My mozilla firefox browser works fine. I also cant run my windows updates! Oh and some of my icons on my desktop have been moved around mysteriously. Here is my hijack this log. Thanks in advance for your help!!!

Hi erinkate11, and Welcome to the Geeks 2 Go Forums

My name is Trevuren and I will be helping you with your log.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

1) Please uninstall the following programs using the Add/Remove Programs from your Control Panel, if they are present

Lime Wire
WebSavings from Ebates

3) I you are able to uninstall one or both of these programs, please delete the following folders and their content using Windows Explorer:

C;|Program Files\LimeWire
C;\Program Files\WebSavings from Ebates

4) You are currently running HijackThis from a Temporary folder. HJT needs to be in a folder of it's own so that the program itself and the backups it creates aren't deleted by accident. Having the backups could be VITAL to restoring your system if something went wrong in the FIX process!

a. Please go to your 'My Documents' folder, right-click and select 'New > Folder' then name the folder HijackThis.

b. Copy and paste HijackThis.exe to the new folder.

c. Close ALL windows except HJT

d. SCAN with HJT

e. POST a new log

DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES OR CLICK "FIX CHECKED" UNTIL WE CHECK THE LOG, AS MOST OF THE FILES ARE LEGIT AND VITAL TO YOUR COMPUTER'S HEALTH

Regards,

Trevuren

Here is the new log file. I had previously uninstalled limewire about a month ago and didnt have websavings with ebates. I think i uninstalled that a long time ago...that is if that is the program that came with kazaa or morpheus or something like that because i used to uninstall those immediatley with installing kazaa or a similar program. ANyways, I moved the hijack this to its own folder and saved the log I made. THanks in advance!

Hi erinkate11,

I see that you are using LimeWire. Here is a link to an evaluation of this program where at the end they talk about it being an adware carrier. In my HijackThis Fix, I will be formulating my reply as if you have decided to uninstall it. If you decide to keep it, just disregard all items that pertain to this program.
LimeWire

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Now let's do some work on your log:

First we need to make all files and folders VISIBLE:

Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)
*choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
*uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
*Close the window with ok
*All hidden files will now be visible

Close all browser windows and RUN HijackThis.
. Click the SCAN button to produce a log.
. Place a check mark beside each one of the following items:

R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant =
R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch =
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page_bak = about:blank
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [jodyziol] C:\WINDOWS\djuwdiwa.exe
O4 - Global Startup: LimeWire 4.2.6.lnk = C:\Program Files\LimeWire\LimeWire 4.2.6\LimeWire.exe
O4 - Global Startup: Reality Fusion GameCam SE.lnk = ?

The following 2 items are not required at startup and are an enormous drain on system resources. I recommend that you include them both in your fix

O4 - Startup: PowerReg SchedulerV2.exe
O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE

The following entries should only he bere if you or your administrator set them on purpose or if you used Spybot's Home Page and Option Lock down features in the Immunize section of Spybot. If this is not the case put a check mark beside both of them to include them in the fix.

O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions present
O6 - HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel present

Now with all the items selected, delete them by clicking the FIX checked button. Close the HijackThis window and Reboot Your System in Safe Mode

How to use the F8 method to Start Your Computer in Safe Mode

*Restart the computer.
*as soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
*Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode menu item
*press Enter.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following files/folders, and delete them (if they are present):

FILES

C:\WINDOWS\djuwdiwa.exe

FOLDERS (with all their content)

C:\Program Files\LimeWire

Exit Explorer, and REBOOT BACK INTO NORMAL MODE

Finally,RUN Hijackthis again and produce a new HJT log. Post it in the forum so we can check how everytjhing looks now.

Regards,

Trevuren

Hi erinkate11,

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

First we need to make all files and folders VISIBLE:

Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)
*choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
*uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
*Close the window with ok
*All hidden files will now be visible

Close all browser windows and RUN HijackThis.
. Click the SCAN button to produce a log.
Now place a check mark beside each one of the following items:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [KAZAA] C:\Program Files\Kazaa\kazaa.exe /SYSTRAY

Now with all the items selected, delete them by clicking the FIX checked button. Close the HijackThis window and Reboot Your System in Safe Mode

How to use the F8 method to Start Your Computer in Safe Mode

*Restart the computer.
*as soon as BIOS is loaded begin tapping the F8 key until the Advanced Options menu appears.
*Use the arrow keys to select the Safe mode menu item
*press Enter.

Using Windows Explorer, locate the following folder, and delete it (if it is present):

FOLDERS (with all their content)

C:\Program Files\Kazaa

Exit Explorer, and REBOOT BACK INTO NORMAL MODE

Finally,RUN Hijackthis again and produce a new HJT log. Post it in the forum so we can check how everytjhing looks now.

Regards,

Trevuren

HI erinkate11,

Your HJT log appears clear. From the log I can't see a reason for your problems. Your symptoms sound like a Dr Watson type infection but you don't have any of the signs in your log.

I have heard that people are having a lot of trouble with AIM of late. I am not claiming that this is the reason but it is a possibility.

I recommend that you go to PCPitstop which is another excellent Forum where they are more trained in the type of problems that you are experiencing.

PCPitStop

All the best,
