I have an IBM Aptiva and I want to install a new hard drive I was told that the BIOS wont pick up anything over a 30 gig HD is there a way to change the BIOS to pick up a bigger hard drive?

You need to go out to IBM's download pages and search on your specific model - there you will find the latest BIOS and instructions on how to upgrade it. Make sure you back up all your critical data first.
