I wish to connect the front panel audio (it has a red and green jack) but when I came to connect it to the motherboard (P4V8X-X) the pins did't match.

Motherboard Front Panel Audio Header Pinouts:
  • MIC2
  • MIC PWR
  • Line out_R
  • NC
  • Line out_L
  • AGND
  • +5VA
  • BLINE_OUT_R
  • BLINE_OUT_L
Front Panel audio cable:
  • L RET
  • R RET
  • L OUT
  • R OUT
  • MIC PWR
  • MIC IN
  • GROUND
Can I connect it? and if yes how?

Thanks for any help.

The pin names on the board never match the pin names on the case because that would be far too easy. :whistling:

Anyway, try this:

L RET = BLINE_OUT_L
R RET = BLINE_OUT_R
L OUT = Line out_L
R OUT = Line out_R
MIC PWR to MIC PWR
GROUND is usually AGND
MIC IN is usually MIC2
NC = No Connection = no cable from front of the case.

Good thing about front panel audio: Doesn't do any damage if its wired up wrong, there's just no sound whatsoever from the green socket on the back of the board.
