I have run adaware SE and have Norton Antivirus 6.0, but I keep getting ad.oinadserver.com pop-up when browsing in IE. Just ran HijackThis, any help would be great.

Hi there :whistling:

Please run a scan with HijackThis and check the following lines for removal:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = about:blank
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Ofllh] C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\S?mantec\r?gedit.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Aida] "C:\WINDOWS\YMANTE~1\wowexec.exe" -vt ndrv
O4 - Startup: PowerReg Scheduler.exe
O4 - Global Startup: winlogin.exe
O18 - Protocol hijack: mhtml -

Now close ALL other open windows except for HijackThis and hit FIX CHECKED. Exit HijackThis

1. Using the Add/Remove Programs module in your Control Panel, please look for any of the following programs and UNINSTALL them If they are present:

Oin
Yazzle by Oin
Purityscan by Oin
Snowballwars by Oin
cowabunga by Oin
(anything by Oin)

2. Reboot (if you uninstalled any of the above) then download and run this uninstaller:
http://www.outerinfo...Uninstaller.exe

Tutorial

Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit.

Note: In the event you already have Killbox, this is a new version that I need you to download.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
  • Select:
    • Delete on Reboot
    • then Click on the All Files button.
  • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

    C:\WINDOWS\SoftwareDistribution\Download\S-1-5-18\c95bd83d2a268baf2b92cca324c3120b\update\update.exe

  • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
  • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).
If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run Killbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again.

Please go HERE to run Panda's ActiveScan
  • Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
  • A new window will open...click the Check Now button
  • Enter your Country
  • Enter your State/Province
  • Enter your e-mail address and click send
  • Select either Home User or Company
  • Click the big Scan Now button
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
  • When download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan
  • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location. Post the contents of the ActiveScan report along with a new hijackthis log.

Thanks for the quick response. Hijack This doesn't allo w me to remove "O4 - Global Startup: winlogin.exe" It says it is running and to close in the task manager, except I can't find it there. Besides that everything else went fine, and I recieved the "PendingFileRenameOperations prompt". Here are my hijack and activescan logs. Thanks again.

Please download SmitfraudFix (by S!Ri)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.

Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.

Note : process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool"; it is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

Hi :whistling:

Reboot your computer in Safe Mode.
  • If the computer is running, shut down Windows, and then turn off the power.
  • Wait 30 seconds, and then turn the computer on.
  • Start tapping the F8 key. The Windows Advanced Options Menu appears. If you begin tapping the F8 key too soon, some computers display a "keyboard error" message. To resolve this, restart the computer and try again.
  • Ensure that the Safe Mode option is selected.
  • Press Enter. The computer then begins to start in Safe mode.
  • Login on your usual account.
Run Smitfraud Open the SmitfraudFix Folder, then double-click smitfraudfix.cmd file to start the tool.
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press Enter.
Wait for the tool to complete and disk cleanup to finish.
You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?" answer Yes by typing Y and hit Enter.
The tool will also check if wininet.dll is infected. If a clean version is found, you will be prompted to replace wininet.dll. Answer Yes to the question "Replace infected file ?" by typing Y and hit Enter.

A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process, if you computer does not restart automatically please do it yourself manually. Reboot in Safe Mode.

The tool will create a log named rapport.txt in the root of your drive, eg: Local Disk C: or partition where your operating system is installed. Please post that log
