Attempting to resolve a reboot problem. whenever a USB device is attached the Compaq 5000 reboots. I have uninstalled the usb drivers to no avail.
initially the machine rebooted when I connected an Olympus digital voice recorder. after reinstalling the device now reboots the computer when it is removed. this is now the case with a jumpdrive. I have tried all four of the usb ports and have the same result.

:tazz: I finally gave up and reformatted. I did find that there had been a second partial or full upgrade from ME to W2K. If this was the problem or not I don't know but everything works as it should now.
Thanks to all who thought about this.
