Hello,
I confess that I am not tech-savvy. I am logical, scientific and I enjoy the web but I am not up to speed. I had a Malware Problem that Crusty Old Bloke helped me repair in July. However, since then I have not been able to read many emails. Where I would normally receive graphics or other dispays I now have an empty box with a small box in the upper right hand corner. Sometimes the small box has a single icon or impression, sometimes it has 3 impressions in it.
Is my spyware or software blocking these graphics? Do I go to Internet Options on Explorer or do I look to disable my spyare and software programs. I don't have a clue where to start.

Hmm....I tend to agree that it is probably a setting or program that you have that is causing this.

Do you have Adobe Reader installed? If so, could you please uninstall it and install the latest version.

It appears that when Windows Explorer is updated with files from Microsoft a conflict occurs with the Adobe files causing this type of behaviour.

Could you please post a HIjackThis log so that I can eliminate any Malware activity that may be on your system.

I downloaded the newest edition of Adobe. It installed successfully but the new edition did not resolve the problem.

Hi Richard,

I can't find any real problems with that log, although you have an outdated version of Java on your system that requires updating.

Go to Add/Remove programs in Control Panel and uninstall this old version of Java:

J2SE Runtime Environment 4.2 Update 3 << anything that says J2SE Runtime Environment

Now go here and install the latest version of Java.

Also I would strongly suggest that you update Windows Xp to SP2.

Please navigate to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and download all the "critical updates" for Windows. This can patch many of the security holes through which attackers can gain access to your computer.

Please either enable Automatic Updates under Start -> Control Panel -> Automatic Updates , or get into the habit of checking for Windows updates regularly.
