ok here it goes

i wanted to burn some data on a dvd, mostly movies. i pressed the button to open my dvd wr when it doesnt open. it kept flashing. so i turned off my computer and rebooted it. same problem. i opened my computer, i looked. i think i connected it right, the power cable and the data cable i reconnected everything after that. and then something odd. when i pressed the button to open it. it flashed normaly for 2 or 3 seconds, after that it kept flashing very fast, then it went back flashing normally. oh yea, i installed a 550 PSU lately. so this was after.

what happened? did i connect something wrong?

Has the drive ever worked properly? If this just sharted happening, did you install any software just prior to the problem? There is a small pin hole on the font of the drive. You can use a paper clip, straighten it out and insert one end into the pin hole to open the tray.

That's how modern electronic stuff works -- one minute it works then it packs up. You've actually done well to get 2 years use from it. Look at it this way, they cost 5 times as much 2 years ago, so celebrate by getting yourself a new one.
