Well, I accidently downloaded a ton of malware into my boss's computer. (In a moment of frustration over a lost CD code, I tried to download crackz and -- unfortunately, let loose the largest adware infestation I had ever seen. :tazz: I know, I know, I should have known better -- but I was DESPARATE.) Luckily, I noticed as the program was unpacking that a flurry of browser windows were opening and figured out what was going on.

I stopped the installation and began the painful process of removing all the little nasties I set loose in the computer. I managed to get rid of most, but newdotnet kept comin' back. I couldn't believe it! Everything I read about it said it was easy to remove.

Finally, out of desparation (uh, oh, not again) I tried an uninstall utility I downloaded from http://www.iamnotage...om/a/400-p1.php. I now know that the utility on this site came from newdotnet. (more specifically from www.new.net/support/uninstall4_50.exe) It doesn't seem to be a good sign that the removal software comes from the makers of the adware program -- but what do I know?

Now, that I ran the uninstall software, I have completely lost Internet connection on this computer (via IE 6.0 or Outlook 2002). I can see other computers on the network AND other computers on the network can access the Internet. But I can't. ;)

So, there, you go. I ran a new hijack this scan. (I can provide an older scan from before the uninstall, if you think it would help.):

First, get rid of NewDotNet. Go to Control Panel:Add/Remove Programs and remove it. If it is not there, go here and follow Procedure 4: http://www.newdotnet.com

To fix your internet connection, try this:

http://www.geekstogo...ction=show&id=7

When you're done, post another log.

Sorry, guys, I couldn't let this get buried. I posted it less than an hour ago and it was already pushed to page two.

(I KNOW this is rude, but I REALLY, REALLY need help and couldn't allow it to be overlooked.) Sorry again.
