For the last few days I haven't been able to access my hotmail account from my home computer properly. I log in and I get told that Internet Explorer is opening the page but it just remains blank. The funny thing is that it is just my account that has the problem, my sister can log into her account using the same computer without any difficulties.

I thought that I may have picked up a virus or something, but I really haven't a clue and I am getting really frustrated. I have had problems with coolwebsearch in the past, maybe there is something left over from that?

Below I have pasted a copy of my logfile. I hope that someone can help find out what is wrong.

I apologise if I have posted this message in the wrong place, this is my first time on this website.

I'm having the exact same problem (that's how I found this thread) and have come up with a probable answer as to why this happens. It seems the page fails to load because my copy of Spybot S&D, or more specifically its IE bad URL blocking feature (SDHelper), is preventing access to some of the ads run on the Hotmail pages. You can confirm this by changing the "Resident IE" option (right click on the "Spybot-SD Resident" icon in the systray) to "Display dialog when blocking".

I am assuming here of course that you have Spybot installed? :tazz:

If I refresh the Hotmail Today page it will fail to load in 75% of the cases and with the changed setting above I get a dialog saying acces to a Doubleclick or AvenueA URL has been blocked. This is something new and I suspect that it has to do with a changed advertising policy of Hotmail whereby if you block the ad you don't get the page.

If this is correct it is not only annoying, it's further indication of where things are going - with the world in general and the Internet in particular. Be afraid, be VERY afraid...
