Can't Install XP

Some time ago, I tried to upgrade to Windows XP from Windows 2000. After the first reboot after installation (first time you see the Windows XP screen right after restarting..not in Windows yet), it locks up. I'm not certain if my PC requires a reboot or if I have some other problem.

Also, another issue I have is that my computer locks up at random times. At first I thought it might have been the power supply, but I replaced it with a new one and that hasn't really done anything at all. The only time that I can make this problem occur is whenever I run bittorrent, but it also locks up at random moments when I'm not even running bittorrent.

I suspected that it might have also been because of a memory leak, but I ran memtest and it went up to 800% coverage with no errors, so I just thought it probably wasn't it.

Is there a connection? Can anyone help me fix at least one of these problems? Thanks in advance!
