My Sony Vaio laptop has several problems. First, it basically will not open anything in the start menu (i.e. control panel, my pictures, my music,...etc) When I try to open something like this, my entire display disapears for 3 seconds or so, then reappears. I tried looking under the task manager to see if any applications were running and none were. Secondly, It is failing to recognize hardware such as my Linksys wireless network card. When I first discovered these symptoms, I ran an AVG (by Grisoft) scan and discovered a few trojans and backdoors. I promptly quarantined and deleted them. I also ran a complete system scan using Norton Antivirus and it continues to find nothing. My computer is still having these problems. (one reason i might suspect the linksys wireless network card might not be working is because a few days ago, i exited a wireless configuration utility that i have yet to see run again). Furthermore, when I disconnect and reconnect my linksys wireless network card, my computer sounds the three beeps notifying me that it does not recognize the device. Because of this, i cannot connect to the internet to download virus updates for the laptop. I suspect my only option is to reformat the harddrive and load a backup disc I created a while ago. *Phew!* that was a lot to say. Thank you for help in advance.
