'think recovery more than protection' is my advice.

I got to go against this quote, although back ups are important, so is protection. If you don't have the protection then the more you will be recovering your system, plus you got to remember the fact that when you use ghost you will also be backing up any malware along with it too so a re-instalation will simply reinstall the nasties once again. As for backing up I keep the my documents folder sat on a seperate drive to windows and I do manual restore points regularly, plus I have a home network where any important info is sent across to another computer. Anythng installed in program files in my eyes is disposable and can be re-installed at any time.

All I use is system restore, apart from that I use a tool called driver magican to extract drivers to a folder which I have backed up, its licenced software but its worth it. Saves loads of time trying to recognise unknown devices, specially if your helping sort other peoples computers out as well

I have a a fresh install of windows with out the updates and other garbage on my external as well as a folder where i back up my C:\Documents and Settings and a copy of my "clean and fresh reg."

Can't agree , I can't advocate the idea of 'protection before recovery', above all make sure that you can recover, no one knows what malware is going to come out, no AV nor firewall is 100% as they are the benchmarks of the malware makers, protection to a certain point but like the Roman army, protection is the hastati, malware removal are the principals but the system recovery is the last tiari.

hi, i have nod 32 but i need a username and password. it's not a legal copy and i was wonderin if anyone knows where to get a working free user and pass? they cuaght up with the last user and pass that was being passed out!

ldown6969 - I dont feel that your last post is appropriate in an environment like this... If you want crap like that then use the warez sites and I hope that you get infected while you do so. None of the users here condone illegal software, if you are that strapped for cash then use the free legit software option.

sorry, i wasn't fully aware of how rightuoes you all were. the program was installed by a freind and it wasn't till it went to craop i found out it wasn't legal. i am just trying to get it running again so i can have something. next time i will remeber that you all are above that!
