Internet Explorer does not display web pages

I am using a dial up connection to my ISP. I connect successfully. Can update my Lavasoft Ad-Aware software but when I open up Internet Explorer, I get Server not found - no web page. Also, my email gives me an error that cannot find my email servers - pop3 & smtp - however, both are defined correctly.
I also cannot update my AVG spftware. My last virus scan removed a trojan horse dialer.
Any suggestions - need help :whistling:
