Need Help Finding a DVD Ripping Program

I am looking for a program that can rip DVDs to MPEG or AVI files. I found some on Download.com, but I wanted to know what other people use, and if there are any free programs that do the same thing.

Many DVDs are copyright protected from casual ripping. Before you spend any money, make sure you are getting a software that will do the job. Maybe someone else knows of a good free dvd ripper, but i don't.
