Please go here to upload a suspicious file for analysis.
  • Enter your username from this forum
  • Copy and paste the link to this thread
  • Browse for this filename: C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmnlm.dll in the first filename box
  • In the comments, please mention Vundo file not detected
  • Click on Send File

Please download ComboFix and save it to your desktop. Dont use it yet

1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 to your Desktop.
  • Click on Avenger.zip to open the file
  • Extract avenger.exe to your desktop
2. Copy all the text contained in the code box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):

Files to delete:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmnlm.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mlnmp.bak
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mlnmp.bak1
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mlnmp.bak2
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mlnmp.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mlnmp.ini1
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mlnmp.ini2

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon on your desktop.
  • Under "Script file to execute" choose "Input Script Manually".
  • Now click on the Magnifying Glass icon which will open a new window titled "View/edit script"
  • Paste the text copied to clipboard into this window by pressing (Ctrl+V).
  • Click Done
  • Now click on the Green Light to begin execution of the script
  • Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.
4. The Avenger will automatically do the following:
  • It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Unload", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
  • On reboot, it will briefly open a black command window on your desktop, this is normal.
  • After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
  • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
5. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply

Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When it's done running it will produce a log for you. Please post that log in your next reply.

Important Note - Do not mouseclick combofix's window whilst it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Hello :whistling:

Please delete the Avenger program

Nice job

Please run a scan with HijackThis and check the following lines for removal:

F2 - REG:system.ini: UserInit=C:\WINDOWS\system32\userinit.exe,kixcrub.exe

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {A58B2162-5BD9-4EF0-B61D-2974A028D6A1} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmnlm.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {ED3EDAFC-40CC-41AA-AF08-9F3AEF4E86AA} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmnlm.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [bvwfgurh] C:\ubuymogi.bat
O20 - Winlogon Notify: pmnlm - C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmnlm.dll (file missing)

Now close ALL other open windows except for HijackThis and hit FIX CHECKED. Exit HijackThis.

Please download the Killbox by Option^Explicit.

Note: In the event you already have Killbox, this is a new version that I need you to download.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click Killbox.exe to run it.
  • Select:
    • Delete on Reboot
    • then Click on the All Files button.
  • Please copy the file paths below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy):

    C:\WINDOWS\system32\uvojrqyl.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\dnobyjfd.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsupyalo.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\klshpwao.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\hqnrqoys.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmnlm.V00dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmnlm.Vdll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\kixcrub.exe

  • Return to Killbox, go to the File menu, and choose Paste from Clipboard.
  • Click the red-and-white Delete File button. Click Yes at the Delete on Reboot prompt. Click OK at any PendingFileRenameOperations prompt (and please let me know if you receive this message!).
If your computer does not restart automatically, please restart it manually.

If you receive a message such as: "Component 'MsComCtl.ocx' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid." when trying to run Killbox, click here to download and run missingfilesetup.exe. Then try Killbox again.

Please go HERE to run Panda's ActiveScan
  • Once you are on the Panda site click the Scan your PC button
  • A new window will open...click the Check Now button
  • Enter your Country
  • Enter your State/Province
  • Enter your e-mail address and click send
  • Select either Home User or Company
  • Click the big Scan Now button
  • If it wants to install an ActiveX component allow it
  • It will start downloading the files it requires for the scan (Note: It may take a couple of minutes)
  • When download is complete, click on My Computer to start the scan
  • When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to a convenient location. Post the contents of the ActiveScan report along with a new hijackthis log.

very good now I still have a CPU spike but thats very normal on my computer, I don't have start up lag from malware (Pmnln.dll) and things seem to running better. I'm running spywareblaster, NOD32 Trial, and ZoneAlarm Pro Firewall. i was wondering what other products you had to recommend money is the least of worries right now. Also what can I do besides do my system backups and wipes every 6 months to keep my PC running at optimal performance inbetween wipes?

EDIT:I was lloking into purcahsing Spy sweeper from webroot, Is there a product that would be consider better then spy sweeper?

Any feedback would be very helpful for me and my clients

Hi

I would purchase Nod32. I think it is the best as most people who have tried it do. Spysweeper is a great program. I personnaly prefer Ewido, but that just my opinion. Spysweeper is a little better about deliting some of the harder to remove files and I believ the ability to detect some rootkits now. Ewido seems to detect a little more and is a little more User friendly Probably a toss-up on those 2. Spywareblaster is a an easy choice. I never have liked Zone alarm but that is just because I didn't care for the interface, nothing to do with the functionality of the firewall. Its a good program. As far as maintaining optimal performance, I basically just clean My temp. files and defrag once a week...thats it
