[MC Elasmosarus]

I have a problem with this trojan, CIF-Agent Problem. After I delete it with Sophos Anti-Virus, it duplicates with a different number or letter combination at the end. It's already up to 37. The virus is either a .tmp or an .exe file. It also opens up advertisements in internet explorer. HELP!

When I ran combofix, the prompt box opened, turned blue, and it said "The filename, directory name, or volume label syntax is incorrect."

Uninstall via add/remove programs (control panel):

Command Service
Network Monitor

Move HijackThis to own folder, eg. c:\HjT

Open HijackThis, click do a system scan only and checkmark these:

Close all windows including browser and press fix checked.

Go to start -> run. Type services.msc ja click ok.
Find these:

Command Service (cmdService)
Network Monitor

Doubleclick them, press stop and choose startuptype "disabled"

Go to start -> run. Type:
sc delete cmdService and click ok
then sc delete "Network Monitor" and click ok.

Boot in safe mode -> http://www.pchell.co.../safemode.shtml

Delete these:

Reboot.

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky WebScanner

Click on Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be promted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.

• The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
• Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
  
• Now click on Scan Settings
• In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
  • Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
  Extended (if available otherwise Standard)
  
  • Scan Options:
  Scan Archives
  Scan Mail Bases
• Click OK
• Now under select a target to scan:Select My Computer
• This will program will start and scan your system.
• The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
• Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
  • Now click on the Save as Text button:
• Save the file to your desktop.
• Copy and paste that information in your next post.

Send:

- a fresh HijackThis log
- kaspersky report
