I am having a problem with my PC. I need to use the WindowsXP Home CD to get to the Repair window to fix a problem but it is asking me to put in the Administrator passowrd.

Does anyone know what the Admin Password is?

I have a Dell 8200.

Thanks

Which option did you chose on startup..."Start Up in Safe Mode with Command Prompt" ??? I believe that alone necessitates the need for a password. Or am I in error?

If so, then Keith is correct...go after DELL...

Did you try any other of the start up options off F8?

What was the problem that first initiated this need to reinstall?

Suggestion...

XMS will not help OEM customersX ...culpible, but not responsible!!! But if you do a search of their XP site, for "lost password" there is a link to a file that supposedly tells you how to delete the password file, allowing you to reset a new password...but I am inclined to think that this may just be for a personal password, as opposed to an administrators password: http://www.microsoft...mpchap/4279.asp

Can't get a password from Dell...?
Scanned the net for legal Password reclamation software?

In a worst case scenario, you may have to...

1. reformat from the startup as any passwords will be embedded in a pswd file, or
2. fdisk the hard drive, to get rid of root sector and install a new MBR ...making sure you do not insert any passwords
