Hi my comp is getting slow and there may be malware I am unaware of. I have Ad Ware Personal, and spy doctor search and destroy, but I keep getting this data miner thing coming up. My anti virus is Anti VIR, but I also would like to know why I can'y open my windows firewall option in my cotrol panel. I want to turn it off so can download torrents faster. Here is my log:

Hello there
You never posted back to a staff member helpin you here
http://www.geekstogo...s...22693&st=15

Was it running better and now is acting up again ?
We don't offer help for p2p programs and disabling your fire wall to do so is not a very smart move,

Shaba had your log clean and you were dealing with a system restore issue not sure if that is resolved or not

Hi,

Shaba actually helped me get rid of a trojan I had quite a while ago, but this time I just wanted to get your opinion on why my computer has slowed down, and also if I have malware problems due to it. I have put a fresh log for yout to see if it is and hopefully you will be able to help me get rid of any possible problems I may have.

I understand about the p2p torrent thing you indicated, however is it because of Anti-Vir I can't access my windows security? Thank you.

Regards

A. Click "Start" >> "Run", in the box type wscui.cpl, and then click OK.

Let me know if your security center opens up

Download winpfind

Extract WinPFind.zip to your c:\ folder.

Reboot your computer into Safe Mode

Then open c:\WinPFind and double-click on WinPFind.exe. When the program is open, click on the Start Scan button to scart scanning your computer. Be patient as this scan may take a while. When it is done, it will show a log and tell you the scan is completed. Reboot your computer back to normal mode and and post the contents of c:\WinPFind\WinPFind.txt as a reply to this topic.

Hi Don,

Sorry for the late reply. The winfind, and a new Hijack this log is below.
Thank you.

WARNING: not all files found by this scanner are bad. Consult with a knowledgable person before proceeding.

If you see a message in the titlebar saying "Not responding..." you can ignore it. Windows sometimes displays this message due to the high volume of disk I/O. As long as the hard disk light is flashing, the program is still working properly.

Hi Don,

Really? It's clean? HHHmmmm... Its still slow here and there... So there is nothing in the logs to indicate why it is? If not, and its clean, thanks heaps for your help.

A slow computer does not mean there is malware present. I don't see anything in your Hijack This log to indicate that your problem is malware related. I will post the following info to get you started in the right direction, but if you need further help with this you will have to post a new topic in the proper Operating System Forum. I'm closing this topic.

Here are some routine maintenance practices that you should do on a regular basis to keep your machine running efficiently:

Disk Cleanup:

http://www.theelderg...nup_utility.htm

Defrag your HD:

http://artsweb.bham....rag-win2kxp.htm

Run chkdsk:

To use Chkdsk, click Start and My Computer. Right-click the hard drive you want to check, and click Properties. Select the Tools tab and click Check Now. Check both boxes. Click Start. You'll get a message that the computer must be rebooted to run a complete check. Click Yes and reboot. Chkdsk will take awhile, so run it when you don't need to use the computer for something else.

let me know if it makes a difference
