I have a fast wireless connection that's always on, and I have problems going onto standby or hibernating. When I come back, web pages won't load, and IE kind of locks up (partially but not totally). Some other internet applications, such as Messenger work. The only way I know to get the connection back is to reboot, but I would like to know a faster way.

Why do you hibernate your computer? If you're gonne long enough just shut if off. But anyways..i'd repair the connection or just disconect and reconnect your wireless connection.
