c:\WINDOWS>windows\dir
Bad command or file name

What am I doing wrong!?
I've started to give up on recovering the file and have started to try and retype it. Not much fun so any other help is appreciated.

You're typing everything...that's what it should look like, not what you should type

so, when you get to a:\> type only this

c:
cd windows
dir

this will tell us if there is anything at all and the give an idea where things migt be - She may have lost all on C:
