Hello again

am really hoping someone can assist me here with these problems.

My young daughter inherited this computer for her to be able to do her homework on..
GREAT in one way but sadly in another it has issues !

It looks like they have been big music dlers and have had several av and adawares..all expired of cours.

I have since put avast on here as well as a firewall ewido clean up etc and at its first boot scan freaked out with the windows 32 trojan gen error in the operating system..and advised me not to quarantine or delete.
(it is windows xp home incidentally )

Would be really grateful for all and any help in sorting this out for my young daughter.

I do see how busy you all are.

I still see traces of the old av etc so would like to get rid of those too if possible.

• First close any other programs you have running as this will require a reboot
• Double click NoLop.exe to run it
  • Carefully type or copy and paste this series of characters into the lower text area labelled Insert CLSID Here. Include the {}:
    
    {6E93E683-1EDB-4EB2-9850-BFA1AC449268}
• Now click the button labelled "Search and Destroy"
  <<your computer will now be scanned for infected files>>
• When scanning is finished you will be prompted to reboot only if infected, Click OK
• Now click the "REBOOT" Button.
• A Message should popup from NoLop. If not, double click the program again and it will finish Please Post the contents of C:\NoLop.log along with a fresh HijackThis log

First we need to make all files and folders VISIBLE:

Go to start>control panel>folder options>view (tab)
*choose to "show hidden files and folders,"
*uncheck the "hide protected operating system files" and the "hide extensions for know file types" boxes.
*Close the window with ok
*All hidden files will now be visible

1.
First thing to do is remove either AVG or Avast, it is not a good idea to have two AV's running at the same time as conflicts can occur.
I do not see limewire installed so yes you should be able to remove the folder.

2.
Updating Java and Clearing Cache

• Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on the Java Icon (coffee cup) in the Control Panel.
• It will say "Java Plug-in" under the icon.
  Please find the update button or tab in the Java Control Panel. Update your Java then reboot.
• If you are unable to update you can manually update by going here:
  • http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
• After the reboot, go back into the Control Panel and double-click the Java Icon.
• Under Temporary Internet Files, click the Delete Files button.
• There are three options in the window to clear the cache - Leave ALL 3 CheckedDownloaded Applets
  Downloaded Applications
  Other Files
• Click OK on Delete Temporary Files Window
  Note: This deletes ALL the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the CACHE.
• Click OK to leave the Java Control Panel.

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Please delete these files using Windows Explorer(if present):
Use windows search facility if you have trouble finding these files.

Next I need you to navigate to this folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\User Show Wave Dent\ once found I need you to zip the folder, you can use Winrar which I see you have installed. Save it to somewhere you will remember (such as the desktop)

After that, Reboot.

Once in normal windows please go here to upload a suspicious file for analysis.

• Enter your username from this forum
• Copy and paste the link to this thread
• Use the browse button to locate the zipped folder and double click it.
• In the comments, please mention that I asked you to upload this file
• Click on Send File

If you would please, rescan with HijackThis and post a fresh log in this same topic, and let us know how your system's working.

Open HiJackThis

• Click on the "Config..." button on the bottom right
• Click on the tab "Misc Tools"
• Check off the 2 boxes next to the Box that says "Generate StartupList log"
• Click on the button "Generate StartupList log"
• Copy and past the StartupList from the notepad into your next post

Next
Reboot back into safe mode, once there try to uninstall the items you want to remove. If that fails try the tips below.

To manually remove Adobe Acrobat have a look here http://www.adobe.com...ocs/321841.html

It may be easier to download the latest Ad-aware version insatall it and then uninstall it. Same with AVG, if that fails post back and we'll try a different way.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

1.
For the safe removal of AVG, go HERE follow the instructions upto step 5 (remeber to be in safemode when you do it).Reboot into safe mode.

Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F

2.
Go to Start > Run and type Services.msc then hit Ok
Scroll down and find the below service:

McAfee Framework Service (McAfeeFramework)

When you find it, double-click on it. In the next window that opens, under the General tab click the Stop button, then click the drop-down box to change the Startup Type to Disabled. Now hit Apply and then Ok.

Open HiJackThis, click on None of the above, just start the program. Now, click on the Config button (bottom right), click on Misc Tools, then click on Delete an NT Service. A window will pop up. Enter the below item into that field (make sure there are NO spaces before or after the name):

McAfeeFramework

Click OK.

It should pull up information about the service, then ask if you want to reboot. Click YES.

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

After that, Reboot.
