Alright, a few weeks ago i got a cable modem, after i got the modem i went out and bought an antivirus software package.
I installed the program and then my screen went all haywire and is only running in 4 bits or something like that (when I am running in normal mode, safe mode is normal screen), and i get kicked off the net everytime i try to connect. I found out that i was suppose to physically disconnect my cable modem before i installed the antivirus program...so the only thing i could do to fix is was do a system restore and everything was ok.
So i then physically disconnected the cable modem from my computer and reinstalled the antivirus program, it did the same thing again, but this time i cannot use my system restore at all, in either normal mode or safe mode. I can surf the web with no problem as long as im in safe mode but i cannot run any of my online games like Everquest.
Also i ran all the programs suggested before starting this topic, until i got to windows update, i keep getting an error message whenever i try to update the latest things from there.
My friend suggested i reinstall windows xp home or professional, but my comp came with the program in it so i have no disk and i can not afford one, and honestly if there is another way of fixing these problems id really like to try them.
