Need help getting system information back, in the window it says "Cannot access the Windows Management Instrumentation software. Windows Management files may be moved or missing." I just finished up a malware issue in another forum and now this problem started, any ideas?

Problem... I don't have the XP Pro CD. I do have an XP Home (upgrade) from another PC.

I'm back, found a CD and performed the steps required, but did not solve the problem. Anything else we can do?
Some other problems are cannot change firewall settings get a message - windows cannot start ICS services, and another is no access to advanced properties in Local Area Conn. Properties.

Click start then run, type services.msc then press enter, look for Windows Firewall, double click it

Start the service, set the start up type to automatic, click apply, reboot

Got an error message - Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.

The more I look into this I keep getting messages about Windows Management Instrumentation. It seems to be missing! When I try to start it in Services I get an error - cannot find module

Do you still have the XP CD (same version as installed) and your product key

I have the CD but no product key for it. There is a key code on the PC but the CD to match it is not available.

You can use a same version CD, the product key must be the one on the PC

Download the latest key finder

Run it and get the XP Key which is a 25 character alpha numeric code which does not include the sequence OEM

You can use this guide to repair XP

Possibly, you will need to press the start button and keep tapping the delete key, (possibly F2) until the PC enters set up. Change the boot order to CD ROM Drive then hard drive, press F10 then press enter, load the XP CD then type Y then press enter, as it reboots, look for press any key to load from CD, press enter

You will need your XP product key to complete this

The XP Product Key is a 25 character alpha numerical code, which does not include the sequence OEM

If you have audio / video files which are subject to DRM you should check with the provider for known issues with performing an XP repair install
